In late 2022, I had the crazy idea to make a movie that spotlighted the Miami comedy scene.

I had recently relocated out of New York City and back home thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Amidst a lot of despair and uncertainty, I also felt productive, positive and mostly determined to keep my career moving and make something happen in the 305 for myself and my peers.

I noticed an unprecedented amount of momentum and opportunity happening with Miami comedians and creators that even took me by surprise. There was an influx of shows, interest, talent and hustle. People across all disciplines—but mostly creative pursuits— were taking risks and capitalizing on Miami’s renaissance and youth.

I started to question why the Magic City was never regaled as a leader in comedy, acting and entertainment at-large. Despite our wins, our culture and this undeniable camaraderie in the scene, I resented that we couldn’t hold court with LA, NYC or other meccas.

If the industry refused to come to us, I would make something and bring it straight to them.

Through live stand up tapings, in-depth interviews and personal BTS of my life and journey, we have a humorous, heart-warming, raw, gritty and deeply personal look at the past, present and future of Miami comedy.

Muchacha tells the story of a hometown hero. It keeps our imposter syndrome company and forces the big fish It gets real about what it takes to make a dream a reality and it exposes where the Magic City isn’t so magical.

Muchacha is my first stab at film-making and undoubtedly the most important project I’ve embarked on to date.

With the help of editor Joe Conroy of Amerikana Media and producer Ali Edwards (HBO, Netflix, Paramount+) , Muchacha is currently in post-production and set for a release in 2026 with a trajectory towards Tribeca Film Festival, Sundance, SXSW and eventually a key digital release.
